Dr. Mark Albrecht

Dr. Mark Albrecht received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University, class of 1992. After graduation, Dr. Albrecht pursued advanced surgical training with a rotating small animal internship at the University of Missouri, followed by a 3-year small animal surgery residency at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Albrecht came to Montana in 1996 to practice veterinary medicine and was the first surgeon to perform a cruciate knee repair surgery, (TPLO) in the state of Montana. He has taught CE seminars and classes in over 10 states and in Germany. From 2006 to 2020, Dr. Albrecht was the owner and chief surgeon of the Gallatin Veterinary Hospital in Bozeman, MT where he built a reputation as being a highly accomplished surgeon, and one of the leading pioneers that brought advanced small animal orthopedic procedures to Montana.

In 2020, Dr. Albrecht sold his practice with every intention of retiring. He purchased a sailboat and spent a year sailing around the world and throughout the Caribbean. Now that he’s joined our team, he laughs and jokes with us often, saying that he’s come to find that he’s a heck of a lot better surgeon than he is a retiree… It seems Dr. Brown and Dr. Albrecht both share the same dilemma, in that, when you’re really good at something, it’s probably because you genuinely love doing it, and retirement may not be as easy as it sounds. At any rate, we cannot say enough good things about Dr. Albrecht. He’s an exceptional human being and a phenomenally talented and experienced surgeon, and we couldn’t feel more proud or fortunate to have him on our team.
